How to report unwanted calls and phone scams in Peru

Indecopi

Marketing calls, texts and WhatsApp messages without your prior consent are prohibited (article 58 of the Consumer Protection Code). You do not need to sign up for any list: the old "Gracias… No insista" registry is no longer in force. Report it to Indecopi's "No Insista" WhatsApp 999 273 647 or to sacreclamo@indecopi.gob.pe with the company name, the number that called, the date, the time and a screenshot or recording. In Lima you can also call (01) 224-7777.

Check for free how many mobile lines are registered in your name at "Checa tus líneas" and report any you do not recognize, so nobody can use your identity for scams or extortion. For problems with your carrier call FonoAyuda 1844 (free) or write to usuarios@osiptel.gob.pe.

If there was a threat, extortion, a fake kidnapping or you lost money, file a report at the nearest police station or with the High Technology Crimes Division (DIVINDAT). In an emergency call 105.

Evidence to keep

The full number that called you, with date and time (a screenshot of your call log).
The company name, if they gave one, and what they offered or asked for.
Screenshots of SMS or WhatsApp messages and, if possible, a recording.
If you paid: receipts, account numbers and transfer details.
